1. Frequencies of energy
There are many scientific studies today which are proving theories about the energy in the body that have existed for centuries. There are hundreds of energy centres, called chakras, throughout and just beyond the body. Our thoughts, emotions, sex and spirit all exist in our body as different frequencies of energy. In Tantric practice we work consciously with these different energies, opening and clearing their flow pathways. 2. The Masculine & Feminine as one Tantric principles view that everything as humans we have both a masculine and feminine aspect within us, the masculine is often (though not exclusively) more dominant in men and the feminine is often (though not exclusively) more dominant in women. Tantra sees that the merging of these dual aspects is the pathway to experiencing the divine. The masculine aspect is seen as awareness, clarity, logic, the mind and positive solar energy. The feminine aspect is seen as emotion, mystery, creation, the body and negative earth energy. To experience ourselves as divine beings, not to mention being more comfortable, confident and loving, we need to balance both of these aspects fully within ourselves. This also cultivates acceptance, rather than division, between the sexes. 3. Living in the present If we haven’t learned this practice we can often find life going by without our really experiencing it! We can live life playing a tape in our heads, consisting of thoughts which aren’t real, they’re just imagination. Side A is about the past - remembering what happened, what didn’t happen, who said this, who did that and why. Side B is about the future - worrying or dreaming about what might happen, what we might get, what we might lose and why. And then we die. We miss out on what is actually happening HERE & NOW!
One of the most effective ways to come into the present moment is to become aware of your breath and feel it in your body, for you can feel only in the present. Actually, this is one of the reasons we avoid being present – so we can avoid our feelings. Read more about Emotional Intelligence here 4. Dissolving the Ego
This is an illusion, it’s who we think we should be, rather than our authentic self. The challenge is to let go of attachment to, or dissolve this false ego self so we can reconnect with our deeper true self, giving ourselves permission to be who we are without limitation. If we don’t choose to take up this challenge voluntarily life will continue to present such opportunities whether we like it or not and it’s less painful if we make it a conscious process! Because our ego is largely a product of our mind the process of dissolving our ego means surrendering our thinking minds into our hearts. The more we practice consciously (rather than blindly) connecting with our hearts the more we will be rewarded with the knowledge that when we surrender our ego we are surrendering into the love, wisdom, peace and tranquillity that lives in our heart. This is the purpose of the ego - to experience being separate from love so that we can know what love is not, and so then be able to know what love is. It is a journey worth taking! |

Einstein has said that if you break anything down to it’s most basic form it exists as energy. Tantric philosophy promotes this idea also - that everything that exists is part of the one universal energy, including human beings.
We begin life as babies radiating love and emotions, with minimal thought. As we grow up we learn that love and approval is conditional on our behaving in a desired manner. So we adopt a personality or ego self that thrives on behaving in ways that gain acceptance and attention from others, ways that usually involve being predictable and in control.
