What kind of people usually attend your events?
We attract a whole range of people from all walks of life, mostly from Australia but also from other parts of the world. They’re usually in their 30’s-50’s but they can be on either side of this age spectrum. They all have one thing in common- their relationships are important to them.
Our relationship is already in a good place, is this retreat suitable for us?
Yes, as the tools for creating an awesome relationship are the same as for fixing a troubled one. This retreat is also ideal for new couples and it’s great to start out with the right tools and understandings for the future.
Our relationship is in a challenging place right now, it the retreat suitable for us?
Yes, we often have couples attending who say if this doesn’t work the relationship is over. Of course, a life time of struggle cannot be changed in a week but you can get back to a place of openness with each other that will allow you to look at your deeper challenges with more enthusiasm. And Graeme and Annette will be there after the retreat to assist you to do just that if you desire as their follow up is second to none.
Who will our facilitators be?
Annette and Graeme from Oztantra have been facilitating this retreat since 2006, you can find out more about them here
Is it going to be all hard work?
No, actually it will be the opposite! The week is very experiential with many opportunities for lightness, laughter and play; for these are vital ingredients for any relationship and you’ll leave with tools to help bring these elements into your lives back at home. There won’t be sky diving but there will be things that feel just as good!
Will we be made to do things we don’t want to?
No. You will always be invited to try things but you’ll never be forced to do anything you don’t want to. There will be moments when you find yourself a bit challenged, as this is way we find new places in ourselves, and it’s totally up to you what you choose to do with them. You’ll also find that what challenges you will be totally unique (and often surprising) to you.
Will we be interacting with other couples?
Largely it will be an individual workshop for each couple within the retreat itself. There will be some times when we come together as a group and time when you’re in your own space. This is definitely the case with any of the more intimate practices. You will be doing the most intimate practices in the privacy of your own room.
Our sex life is great, we don’t need anything more
Sex has such a huge potential that nobody ever knows everything and you will be surprised at what you learn.
Does it mean we can only make love a certain way?
No, certainly not. It will mean you’ll have a whole stack of new tools to make your favourite things even better!
Will we have to reveal everything about our relationship to others?
Apart from not having the time for it, this is not necessary. You will be sharing with your partner, and if you require assistance, with Annette or Graeme. What you share with the group is totally up to you.
Will the teachings around the sexual aspect of intimacy be tastefully and respectfully done?
Absolutely, this is something that we take very seriously and pride ourselves on. There is no actual sex in the workshop space, or sexually sharing with others and there’s no need to worry about any graphic ‘sexual demonstrations’, Graeme and Annette consider them unnecessary and themselves too far on the other side of 50 to consider taking their clothes off in public!
Will we have access to the facilitators outside of the course time?
Yes, Annette & Graeme will be available during breaks if required for some one on one support. These conversations can be one of the most valuable aspects of the course and possible because we limit our numbers to ensure your needs are addressed.
Will there be any woo woo things like chakras, chanting, drumming etc?
As an ex nurse and ex farmer Annette and Graeme are very down to earth and practical people so what we offer is the same, so there’s just enough woo woo to make it work, though no chanting or drumming…
Will be have to take on any particular beliefs or lifestyle as a result of this course?
No, as we’ve said, there is no particular dogma we require you to attach yourself to. We give you the opportunity to experience things for yourself and leave you to interpret them in ways that make sense to you, and to take them home into your life in ways that work for you.
How good will the food be?
The food at Heaven in Bali is fresh, local and made with love. It’s delicious and all diet types can be catered for. And their cashew milk lattes are to die for!
Will there be any extra costs involved?
Yes, if you desire to stay an extra night before or after the retreat. Also any extra drinks eg. lattes between set times, any foods ordered off the menu (besides the beautiful daily menu), personal laundry (small fee), with payment to the villa via credit card at the end of the retreat. Anything you spend on excursions outside the villa is up to you of course.
We haven’t travelled overseas that much, will it be difficult for us to get to the retreat?
No, it won’t be, because we will have a driver from the villa itself waiting to pick you up from Denpasar airport and whisk you straight to your accommodation, and back again at the end of the retreat. If you’re staying nearby we can also arrange for you to be picked up from your accommodation.
Will there be any kind of follow up support once the retreat is over?
Yes, we include ongoing phone and email support where required to help you fully integrate the changes begun on your retreat. Often a few minutes on the phone at the right time can easily get you back on track. We’re not just looking to take your money and run, we’re invested in you becoming empowered in your relationship in the long run. If there is something that we believe requires a session rather than a conversation we will negotiate that with you at the time.
